Langes glattes braunes Haar nach Keratin Glättung

keratin straightening in zurich – Smooth, sleek hair without the daily struggle

Spending 20 minutes with a flat iron every morning, only to have it ruined by the first rain shower? A keratin straightening treatment can change that.

At André Joe Coiffure at Zurich HB, every service begins with an honest consultation: we examine your hair texture and explain what results are realistically achievable. Not all hair can be straightened to the same degree—and a keratin treatment is not the ideal solution for everyone.

When it is the right fit, you get hair that falls noticeably smoother, suffers far less frizz, and styles in a fraction of the time.

You can find us in the ShopVille Plaza at Zurich HB—open 365 days a year, including Sundays.

What is keratin straightening – and how does it work?

Keratin is the essential protein that makes up the majority of your natural hair structure. During a keratin treatment, liquid keratin is worked into the hair and sealed in using heat.

The keratin coats the hair shaft and smooths the cuticle layer. The result:

  • Hair falls significantly smoother and remains manageable

  • Frizz is drastically reduced, even in high humidity

  • Hair gains vibrant, healthy shine

  • Daily styling is much faster—often requiring only a quick blow-dry without a flat iron

  • The overall hair structure looks healthier and sealed

Important: A keratin treatment is not a reverse perm. Your natural hair texture is not permanently altered—it is calmed and relaxed. The intensity of the smoothing effect depends on your natural starting texture.

Who is keratin straightening suitable for?

Particularly beneficial if you:

  • Have frizzy or strong wavy hair that is difficult to tame

  • Use a flat iron daily and want to reduce heat damage

  • Experience immediate frizz whenever it rains or is humid

  • Want to save significant time during your daily styling routine

  • Desire smooth hair without permanently altering your natural structure

Suitable for fine hair? Yes, but with a different focus. For fine hair, the goal is less about heavy straightening and more about adding shine, sealing the cuticle, and controlling frizz. We adjust the treatment accordingly so your hair does not feel weighed down.

Suitable for men? Yes. For men with curly or unruly hair, a keratin treatment can simplify daily styling dramatically—especially for medium-length hair.

Suitable for color-treated or bleached hair? Usually yes, but the condition of the hair determines eligibility. For heavily bleached hair, we inspect the texture closely beforehand and may recommend a deep-rebuilding treatment first. Learn more: Balayage Zurich · Hair Coloring Zurich

We work with COCOCHOCO – formaldehyde-free keratin

Many traditional keratin treatments contain formaldehyde or chemical ingredients that release formaldehyde fumes when heated. That is precisely why many clients hesitate.

We work with COCOCHOCO, a Brazilian keratin smoothing system. The manufacturer declares its formulas to be completely free of formaldehyde, sulfates, and parabens. If you have any questions regarding ingredients, we are happy to share the full product specifications with you in the salon.

Which COCOCHOCO Line Suits Your Hair Type?

COCOCHOCO Gold – Medium Strength

Infused with liquid 24-karat gold, which reduces static electricity and protects hair against humidity, rain, and saltwater. Special benefit: Gold does not reduce hair volume—ideal if you want smooth hair without it looking flat. Designed for medium hair textures.

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If in doubt, please consult your physician—we are happy to advise you on gentler alternatives such as Hair Botox.

Step-by-step breakdown of your keratin straightening

1.

Consultation & Hair Analysis

We evaluate your hair texture, condition, and color history to discuss how intense you want the smoothing effect to be. Some clients prefer pin-straight results while others want relaxed waves—both are achievable.

Washing & Preparation

2.

A clarifying shampoo opens the hair cuticle layer so the keratin can absorb deeply.

3.

Application

The keratin formula is applied evenly, strand by strand.

4.

Processing Time

The product absorbs into the hair shaft. Duration varies based on hair structure and system used.

Heat Sealing

5.

Blow-drying followed by precise flat-ironing seals the keratin into the hair fiber. This step dictates the longevity of your result and requires meticulous care.

6.

Finish & Home Care Advice

Finally, we style your hair and explain key care instructions for the first few days.

How long does keratin straightening last?

Generally 3 to 5 months, depending on the product line and hair texture. COCOCHOCO typically lasts 4 to 6 months. After this period, the product washes out gradually and evenly—without creating a harsh regrowth line like permanent color.

Longevity depends on:

  • Your natural starting texture (coarser hair relaxes back sooner)

  • How frequently you wash your hair

  • The type of shampoo you use

  • Whether you color or bleach your hair afterwards

How to extend your results:

  • Use sulfate-free shampoo—sulfates strip keratin out much faster

  • Avoid washing with hot water

  • Avoid exposure to saltwater and chlorine, or rinse thoroughly immediately after swimming

  • Use heat protection whenever you blow-dry or heat-style

  • For the first 72 hours post-treatment: Do not wash your hair, tie it up, use hair elastics, or tuck it behind your ears—the keratin needs time to fully set.
